The HSCDSB Special Education Department Staff is already in the spirit of giving. The department stuffed pack sacks for a family, girl, or a boy with items such as non-perishables, hygiene items, crafts, toys, mitts, socks, hats.
Principals were asked to pick one pack sack for either a boy, girl or family in their school community that could benefit from its contents. They were distributed at the principals meeting November 1 and 2. This was one of the department’s many outreach contributions for our school communities before Advent.
“The pack sacks historically were used to hold S.E.A. computers, however they were changed to a lighter version of a neoprene courier bag instead. This left the department with a surplus of sturdy pack sacks that they felt could be re-purposed,” said Special Education Coordinator Rosanne Zagordo.
“This was a great idea and certainly put these items to a very good use. I’m very proud of the Special Education Department, but it is something we’ve come to expect from them,” said Superintendent of Education Joe Chilelli.
