A tremendous effort by students at St. Mary’s French Immersion in Sault Ste. Marie to rustle up some, well actually a lot, of food for the St. Vincent Place food bank.
As part of a partnership with St. Mary’s College, Holy Family and St. Paul elementary schools, Sault College, Algoma University and Maitland Ford the Sharks supported a frenzy of gathering food for those in need, as part of the Halloween connected ‘We Scare Hunger’ food drive.
The students at St. Mary’s brought in various food items, collected others while trick-or-treating on Halloween, and canvassed the neighbourhood for donations as well.
In all, over 2,100 cans and dry food items were collected. Thanks to Maitland Ford, the food was delivered to St. Vincent Place and the students in Grade 7 and 8 were on hand to help in sorting everything to assist the volunteers.
