A Busy Advent

The students and staff of Our Lady of Fatima were very busy during the Advent season spreading joy.  The school choir visited senior homes and students made crafts under the direction of trustee Kathleen Rosilius to decorate the rooms of shut-ins at the hospital.  Students donated winnings from the Santa Clause Parade to the Salvation Army Children’s Telethon and the money raised from items students made and sold at school was also donated to Salvation Army.

Staff worked last week-end to sort food for the food bank and will work to make boxes for food hampers, crafts making with and reading to seniors at St. Joseph’s Manor.  Mr. Ucci’s grade 6/7 class are baking cookies and selling them to raise  money for Ronald McDonald House.  Staff participated in an Advent retreat and potluck with Sister Pat Carter on December 7th.

The photo is from the Elliot Lake Community Concert.  Students from Our Lady of Fatima joined with students from Our Lady of Lourdes to perform Light a Candle for Peace, Heaven Everywhere and a Christmas medley of songs garnered the greatest applause of the event.

Indeed many, many student led activities which help the students understand the true meaning of Christmas.
