Mrs. Calvano’s Grade 10 Food & Nutrition class and Mrs. Rollin’s Grade 11/12 Hospitality & Tourism classes took part in an Emergency Preparedness Presentation, led by Lauren Perry and Naomi Thibault from Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services.
Students learned about how to be prepared for an emergency situation, by having an emergency kit packed and ready to go. The highlight of the training was the Disaster Dining Challenge. Students were asked to prepare an emergency style meal, using only non-perishable food items that could be included in their emergency kit.
Students worked in teams and came up with creative dishes. Congratulations to all of our students for participating! A special mention to our two winning teams, Kitchen #1 with their winning recipe “Ham Stir Fry” and Girl Power with their winning recipe “Hobo Soup”.
