Four schools in Sault Ste. Marie came together as one for this year’s We Scare Hunger campaign. Students from St. Paul, St. Mary’s French Immersion and St. Basil elementary schools and St. Mary’s College, collected food items for the campaign which was led by the Me to We Club at St. Mary’s College in partnership with Maitland Ford and Sault College.
The campaign was a resounding success as over 6,000 food items were collected. St. Basil itself brought in an astounding 3,000 items.
The food was sorted and delivered to the Soup Kitchen Community Centre, Women in Crisis, the Salvation Army, Pauline’s Place and the St. Vincent de Paul facility. A portion of the food collected was also donated to Sault College to assist any of their students who are struggling.
