On May 3rd, the St. Mary’s College English Department travelled to Stratford with twenty-seven Advanced Placement students to enjoy the ambiance and traditions associated with the Stratford Festival. They took in a matinee performance of Shakespeare’s Othello.
In the words of the director, Nigel Shawn Williams, the play explores the “themes of hate and intolerance, both of which continue to spread throughout the world like a virus.”
The play highlights the importance of fighting for hope, truth, and light in our world.
“If we cannot overcome fear and intolerance, I wonder what we have.”
