The Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Elliot Lake has created the ‘Mensa Academy’, an enrichment program where students with 75% or higher marks and all E’s and G’s on life skills on report cards can join.

These students help out around the school with various tasks and complete extra assignments as a requirement of the program. This term they need to complete a poster/poem/essay for the legion, they have additional reading, novel assignment and math work.
Most recently the students went on a number of field trips to community facilities. Their first was to the hospital and nursing home to read to seniors and sick on Halloween.
Another field trip saw the group visit Elliot Lake city hall and meet the CAO Dan Gagnon where they learned first hand of local politics and city operations.

They also went to the OPP station where Officer Young explained the process of law enforcement.
