To assist students prepare for their return to school in September the board created a Transition Program to ease possible fears students had about returning to class. It was also an opportunity to practice learning and having fun while wearing a mask.

The program was board-wide and ran for a week at each host site. Up to ten students participated on recommendation by their school teams.
Most sites focused on new ways to learn while physically distancing, practicing hand hygiene and wearing a mask. Staff at each location came up with fun ways to do read-alouds, experiments and outdoor play.
One group at St. Mary’s in Blind River created posters for the school and a presentation that could be shared with Kindergarten students when they arrive back at school.
