March 26, 2021
Dear Parents / Guardians, As you are aware, since March 11, 2021, Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) has remained in the Grey-Lockdown level, as a result of the increase in cases and the presence of the more transmissible variants of concern in the region.
In addition, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, the Medical Officer of Health for PHSD, provided all schools boards serving the region with a Letter of Instruction, which closed schools to in-person learning, except those located in Chapleau, Foleyet, and Gogama.
Yesterday evening, the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board was advised that Dr. Sutcliffe will not be lifting her Letter of Instruction and that a decision has not yet been made as to when students will be able to return to in-person learning.
As a result, students in HSCDSB schools in Massey and Espanola will continue to learn remotely until further notice. Based on this new information, if your family requires additional technology or you have any other questions or concerns related to your child(ren)’s education, please contact your local school.
As always, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times. We continue to pray for the safety, protection, and healing of those affected by COVID-19 and encourage you to do the same.
Rose Burton Spohn, Director of Education
