March 31, 2021
Dear Parents / Guardians,
This letter is a follow-up to the one sent on Friday, March 26 to all parents with students enrolled at Sacred Heart in Espanola and St. Mary in Massey. In that letter, I indicated that Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) has remained in the Grey-Lockdown level since Thursday, March 11 because of an increase in cases and the presence of the more transmissible variants of concern.
This afternoon, the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board learned that Dr. Sutcliffe will not be lifting her Letter of Instruction this week or next. As a result, students in HSCDSB schools in Massey and Espanola will continue to learn remotely until further notice, and at least until Friday, April 9. The Letter of Instruction also applies to before and after school programs for all schools. As you may have also heard, Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, announced yesterday that Spring Break will indeed occur from April 12 – 16.
Based on this new information, if your family requires additional technology or you have any other questions or concerns related to your child(ren)’s education, please contact your local school.
As always, we urge you to be vigilant in adhering to public health guidance, particularly over the Easter weekend and the Spring Break. Thank you for your continued patience, support, understanding, and prayers during this difficult time.
Rose Burton Spohn, Director of Education
