Knights Excel

knights curlingIt was a great weekend for St. Mary’s College student-athletes as they celebrated a number of tremendous accomplishments.

On Friday, the team skipped by Nick Lemieux captured the NOSSA Curling Championship in Sudbury.  Their 8–4 win over Central Algoma gave the Knights a perfect 5 and 0 record.  Lemieux, Jacob Reid, Andrew Berg and Taylor Longo will now head to the OFSAA championships in North Bay beginning March 22.

Speaking of OFSAA, SMC wrestlers claimed three top-ten finishes at the All-Ontario’s in Brampton.  In the boys 83 kilogram class, Jordan Campioni placed 4th.  In girls competition, Morgan Leonard was 4th in the 47.5 kilo division and Mackenzie Monico 6th in the 145 k group.

Closer to home, the Knights captured another city hockey title with an 8–0 romp over Korah to take the final series 3 games to 1.
