Last weekend elementary students put their basketball skills on display during the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board basketball championship. The tournament had both the boys’ and girls’ division play multiple games over a two day period: Friday and Saturday.
The boys’ gold medal game saw Holy Family defeating St. Mary’s French Immersion with an impressive 35-12 win. The Flames were led by Michael Nicoletta’s 15 point performance.
The silver medal game saw Our Lady of Lourdes from Elliot Lake beating St. Paul.
In the girls’ division St. Pius won an exciting game over St. Mary’s French Immersion’s A-team 26-25. Mercedes Mazzaca was the Panthers leading scorer with 19 points.
The silver medal game was played between St. Paul and Holy Cross. A game that saw St. Paul coming out victorious.
St. Mary’s French Immersion B-team defeated Our Lady of Lourdes from Elliot Lake in the Bronze medal game.
