The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and progressive leader who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the mission and ministry of Catholic education. The effective date of the appointment is Friday, April 1, 2022, or another mutually agreeable date
to be negotiated in consultation with the board.

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is called and committed to developing the full potential of each child in its care and to nurturing a personal relationship with Jesus that will inspire Catholic leadership. The board is comprised of seventeen elementary schools, one secondary school, and two alternative learning
centres. The board’s jurisdiction spans from Espanola to Hornepayne. Its central office, the Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre, is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Student enrolment is approximately 4300 students and the annual budget is in excess of $70 million.

The Director of Education will lead a system dedicated to excellence in education and a desire to live the values of Jesus. The new Director of Education will continue with the implementation of the 2021 – 2025 strategic plan, with a clear focus on the Success and Well-Being of our Students, Nurturing of our Catholic Faith, Engagement with our Employees and Partners, and Equitable Stewardship of our Resources. The successful candidate will establish and maintain strong community relationships and partnerships, and will inspire all employees to provide the highest quality of education for students. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to Gospel values and the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church. The individual will bring an outstanding record of achievement in progressively senior leadership positions, with a proven commitment to effective communication and a collaborative style of
leadership. Teaching and supervisory officer qualifications will be considered assets.

Applicants are asked to submit, by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021: a detailed cover letter and résumé, a one-page statement of your personal philosophy of Catholic education, a list of three professional references with written consent to contact them, and a current pastoral reference with written consent to contact the priest.

Interviews of all successfully short-listed candidates will be held in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, November 20, 2021. References will be contacted between Saturday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 23, 2021 as appropriate and/or necessary.
