EFFECTIVE DATE: August 26, 2021

HOURS OF WORK: 17.5 hours/week

SALARY:   $26.97/hour plus vacation pay

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Senior Secretary and/or School Principal, the successful candidate will be responsible for the performance of general office functions, and also required to receive, catalogue, process and shelve books and learning materials in the school library.  These duties include:

  • keyboarding and filing of school reports, records and correspondence;
  • assisting in maintaining administrative records (student attendance, record of supply teachers, student marks, etc.);
  • meeting the staff, students, public and answering the telephone;
  • operating office equipment and photocopying equipment;
  • operating computer and various software packages (Microsoft Office, Aspen, etc.);
  • handling and distributing mail;
  • performing general office functions and providing secretarial assistance in the administrative office and guidance area;
  • uses library systems (scanner and software applications), checks books and resources in and out of the library for students and staff
  • conduct and maintain library inventories as required and requested;
  • undertakes periodic audits and weeding of materials within established procedure;
  • pulls specific materials, as requested by teaching staff
  • prints monthly late report and distributes to classroom teachers and follows up, as required
  • perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • work independently and as part of a team;
  • possess a good knowledge of office procedures and methods;
  • good keyboarding skills and filing skills;
  • good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • ability to organize and maintain an efficient school office;
  • operate office and photocopying equipment.
