LOCATION:  Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

The Board is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, creative, organized and professional Catholic educator/leader who is able to work effectively with the staffs, students, parents, and communities in the board’s jurisdiction. The Transitions Special Assignment Teacher is responsible for:

  • System leadership and support in deepening students’ and teachers’ understanding of, appreciation of, and fluency in both of Canada’s official languages, particularly as students transition into and out of secondary school;
  • System leadership and support in deepening students’ and teachers’ understanding of the value of all pathways, including apprenticeship, college, community living, military service, university, and work;
  • Organization of in-service activities and meetings related to transitions in Canada’s official languages;
  • Participation in meetings and activities of various curriculum-related groups (may include travel as health conditions permit);
  • Collaboration on various curriculum initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualifications in junior, intermediate, and senior divisions
  • Religious Education, Part 1
  • FSL, Part 1
  • Special Education, Part 1
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
  • Sound understanding of ESL and international education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Primary qualifications
  • Guidance, Part 1
  • FSL, Specialist
  • Religious Education, Specialist

This position is open to permanent teachers currently employed by the board.
