Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre<\/span><\/p><p><b>EFFECTIVE DATES:<\/b> Start February 2022 &#8211; 12 months with possibility of extension<\/p><p><b>SALARY RANGE:<\/b> $70,093 (starting rate) &#8211; $77,519 annually<\/p><p>The K \u2013 8 Indigenous Transitions Coach will provide intensive supports to Indigenous learners with the goal of transitioning into and out of elementary school.\u00a0 The successful candidate will build positive relationships with Indigenous students and their families by identifying barriers and solutions to student learning, engagement and well-being.\u00a0 In addition, the candidate will collaborate with the school to engage with parents, guardians, families and communities to build trust, relationships and facilitate communication and dialogue.\u00a0 The candidate will build strong relationships with Indigenous childcare centres to support the transition of students to our local elementary schools and collaborate with elementary educators to support the integration of Indigenous ways of knowing and being.\u00a0 The candidate will facilitate a circle of care to ensure that effective supports are leveraged to improve the success of Indigenous students in Kindergarten through grade 8.<\/p><p><strong>The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, experiences, and attributes:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies\/Services, First Nations Family Support\/Community Worker, Child and Youth Worker or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working with and supporting children;<\/li><li>Knowledge of Indigenous traditional teachings, cultures, perspectives, values, and history, and a deep connections to the local Indigenous community;<\/li><li>Awareness of Indigenous community resources and ability to connect students and families to these resources;<\/li><li>Demonstrates understanding of equity, especially in areas of special education, mental health and Indigenous learning;<\/li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills, proficient computer skills and a willingness to be flexible;<\/li><li>Proficient in the use of online platforms\/programs (i.e. Google Meet) and comfortable working in a virtual environment as required to support students remotely when in-person meetings are not possible<\/li><li>Valid driver\u2019s license and the willingness and ability to travel for school board related business is required<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Please submit applications via email to job.applications@hscdsb.on.ca by February 14, 2022 at 4:00 pm.\u00a0<\/strong> Application packages should include a r\u00e9sum\u00e9, cover letter, and contact information for three professional references (including email addresses), with permission to contact them following a successful interview.\u00a0 We thank all applicants for their interest, but please note that only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.<\/p><p><strong>THIS BOARD IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER:\u00a0 <\/strong>In compliance with the Ontario with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is committed to providing accommodations to persons with disabilities.\u00a0 The Board will take into account the person\u2019s ability to access information and will provide the information contained in Board-produced public documents in a format that meets those needs as agreed upon with the person.\u00a0 Please contact the Human Resources Department at 705-945-5610 prior to the posting closing date so that appropriate arrangement can be made.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOCATION: Curriculum Department &#8211;
