College<\/span><\/p><p><b>EFFECTIVE DATE:<\/b> Start ASAP, end date undetermined<\/p><p>This is a temporary full-time position.\u00a0 The board is seeking a dynamic individual to assist in the efficient daily operations of Library services at SMC.\u00a0 The successful candidate will be scheduled 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, and may provide any of the following services:<\/p><ul><li>Maintenance of individual school resource collections, including purchasing of all print, non-print and audio-video resources, cataloguing materials, the circulation of library materials (sign-out, return, renewal) and conducting annual inventory<\/li><li>Oversight of the physical collection and circulation duties<\/li><li>Liaising with publishers and vendors regarding subscriptions, invoices, and password management<\/li><li>Contributing to and collaborating on projects to provide innovative information services and products that support the evolving needs of the school library<\/li><li>Assisting with the acquisition and evaluation of existing resources<\/li><li>Providing information services and participating in the development of information tools at the school and board level<\/li><li>Assisting in the monitoring and planning\/preparation of annual estimates for school library needs<\/li><li>Issuing overdue notices, compiling lists of overdue materials and users with materials owing<\/li><li>Serving students, including library and research skills instruction and maintaining routines and rules in the library<\/li><li>Organizing, planning, conducting, operating, and evaluating individual programs, events, and other promotional activities related to school libraries<\/li><li>Maximizing use of social networking tools, blogs and other online resources to reach the target audience (teen\/young adult)<\/li><li>Assisting patrons with resources and reference materials as required<\/li><li>Undertaking special projects and other duties as assigned<\/li><\/ul><p>The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, experiences, and attributes:<\/p><ul><li>Bachelor\u2019s degree and\/or Librarian Technician\/Library and Information Studies degree\/diploma or related post-secondary education<\/li><li>1-2 years professional experience in a library setting<\/li><li>Experience working with databases<\/li><li>High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Slides)<\/li><li>Familiarity with computer hardware and audio visual equipment, including the ability to conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues<\/li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with and providing service to students and patrons<\/li><li>Ability to work effectively independently as well as within a team environment<\/li><li>Ability to submit a satisfactory Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check
