Part-Time Secondary School Library Assistant (Temporary, Non-Union)<\/p><p><strong>LOCATION:<\/strong>\u00a0St. Mary\u2019s College<\/p><p><b>EFFECTIVE DATE:<\/b>\u00a0Start ASAP, end date undetermined<\/p><p>This is a temporary part-time position.\u00a0 The board is seeking a dynamic individual to assist in the efficient daily operations of Library services at SMC.\u00a0 The successful candidate will be scheduled 9 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday, and may provide any of the following services:<\/p><ul><li>Assist in maintenance of school library resource collections as directed by the Library Supervisor, which includes cataloguing materials; providing circulation services and conducting inventories of the collection<\/li><li>Provide support to the Library Supervisor on projects to bring innovative information services and products that support the evolving needs of the school library<\/li><li>Assist with the acquisition and evaluation of existing resources, including the weeding of materials as directed<\/li><li>Provide library services and supervision as required for students<\/li><li>Management of overdue materials using library software and liaising with teaching staff and administration to facilitate the return of library materials<\/li><li>Provide information services and basic technical support, including library and research skills instruction while maintaining routines and rules in the library as directed<\/li><li>Assist with the inventory maintenance and management of audio-visual equipment and school assigned technical resources (i.e. laptops)<\/li><li>Together with the Library Supervisor, provide software support and other assistance to HSCDSB elementary school library staff as needed<\/li><li>Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned<\/li><\/ul><p>The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, experiences, and attributes:<\/p><ul><li>Librarian Technician\/Library and Information Studies diploma or related post-secondary education<\/li><li>1-2 years professional experience in a library setting<\/li><li>Experience working with databases<\/li><li>High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Slides)<\/li><li>Familiarity with computer hardware and audio visual equipment, including the ability to conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues<\/li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with and providing service to students and patrons<\/li><li>Ability to work effectively independently as well as within a team environment<\/li><li>Ability to submit a satisfactory Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check prior to the
