Marie, ON<\/p><p><strong>EFFECTIVE DATE:<\/strong> Immediately<\/p><p><strong>END DATE:\u00a0<\/strong> Undetermined<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The Indigenous Graduation Coach will provide intensive supports to Indigenous learners with the goal of obtaining an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and successfully transitioning into post-secondary education, training or labour market opportunities.\u00a0 The successful candidate will build positive relationships with Indigenous students by identifying barriers and solutions to student learning, engagement and well-being.\u00a0 In addition, the candidate will collaborate with school staff, parents, Indigenous community partners and outside agencies to build networks and supports to foster success for students during and outside of the school day.\u00a0 The candidate will play a lead role in assisting all staff members to improve achievement, well-being and graduation rates for Indigenous students attending St. Mary\u2019s College and Holy Angels Learning Centre.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, experiences, and attributes:<\/p><ul><li>Degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies\/Services, First Nations Family Support\/Community Worker, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, working with and supporting youth;<\/li><li>Knowledge of Indigenous traditional teachings, cultures, perspectives, values, and history, and a deep connections to the local Indigenous community;<\/li><li>Awareness of local Indigenous community resources and ability to connect students and families to these resources;<\/li><li>Ability to be a mentor and an advisor to Indigenous students;<\/li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills, proficient computer skills and a willingness to be flexible;<\/li><li>Valid driver\u2019s license and the willingness and ability to travel for school board related business is required;<\/li><li>Ability to submit a satisfactory Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check prior to the commencement of employment duties.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Please submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information (including email addresses) for three (3) professional references with permission to contact them by no later than 4:00 pm on November 26, 2021 to the attention of the Human Resources Department at <a href=\"mailto:job.applications@hscdsb.on.ca\">job.applications@hscdsb.on.ca<\/a>.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>THIS BOARD IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER<\/strong><\/p><p>In compliance with the Ontario with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is committed to providing accommodations to persons with disabilities. \u00a0The Board will take into account the person\u2019s ability to access information and will provide the information contained in Board-produced public documents in a format that meets those needs as agreed upon with the person.\u00a0 Please contact the Human Resources Department at 705-945-5610 prior to the posting closing date so that appropriate arrangement can be made.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>POSITION: Indigenous Graduation Coach (Temporary Replacement, Non-Union) LOCATION:\u00a0 St. Mary&#8217;s College, Sault Ste.
