Trustees of the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board approved a new look for the board and a new vision for the next five years at their monthly meeting on January 20, 2021.<\/p>

Trustees were shown the board\u2019s new multi-colour logo designed by Cavera Inc, a digital marketing agency based in Sault Ste. Marie. The new logo makes use of six colours.<\/p>

The new logo does include blue in the icon and main text of the board\u2019s name in honour of the board\u2019s history and the life-giving waters of Lakes Huron and Superior.<\/p>

The colours in the design of the new logo also reflect the present and future. The use of white, black, yellow and red \u2014 the colours of the medicine wheel \u2014 intentionally honours the important place that Indigenous people, communities, traditions, perspectives and education have in our board. The splash of green in the logo represents the board\u2019s focus on practices and decisions that build a sustainable future.<\/p>

\u201cReflective of our past, looking forward to our future, the new branding will serve as a reminder for us to focus on student success and the wellness of our students and staff while allowing us to grow our Catholic faith and respect our many partners including our Indigenous community,\u201d said Chair, Sandra Turco.<\/p>

The components of the new logo align with the board\u2019s new strategic directions. The cross is an obvious reference to the Catholic faith, the multi-coloured pages of the book reflect the board\u2019s prioritization of the success and well-being of its students and the equitable stewardship of its resources. The yellow circle is representative of the board\u2019s engagement with its employees and partners.<\/p>

Also unveiled to the trustees was the board\u2019s new Multi-Year Strategic Plan. The plan, which will be in effect from 2021 to 2025, focuses on four directions:<\/p>

~ Success and Well-Being of our Students<\/p>

~ Nurturing of our Catholic Faith<\/p>

~ Engagement with our Employees and Partners<\/p>

~ Equitable Stewardship of our Resources.<\/p>

\u201cThese four new strategic directions will guide us in all of our decisions,\u201c said Director of Education, Rose Burton Spohn.<\/p>

\u201cThe fact that the plan appears as a circular image is a reflection of the importance and interconnectedness of all four directions.\u201d<\/p>
