{"id":4976,"date":"2021-05-27T13:31:12","date_gmt":"2021-05-27T17:31:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsite.hscdsb.on.ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=4976"},"modified":"2021-05-27T13:33:46","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T17:33:46","slug":"elementor-4976","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.hscdsb.on.ca\/hscdsbtest\/news\/elementor-4976\/","title":{"rendered":"Vice-Principal Honoured by Province"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that one of its vice\u0002principals has been honoured by the Ontario Catholic School Trustees\u2019 Association (OCSTA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nadia Zanatta, Vice-Principal at Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion Catholic School in Elliot Lake, has received the prestigious OCSTA Student Trustee Alumni Award. The award is given annually to a former Catholic student trustee who has demonstrated exceptional achievement in any field and positive Catholic values. Recipients must demonstrate service to their communities and outstanding leadership that inspires meaningful change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hscdsb.on.ca\/hscdsbtest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/05\/Nadia-Zanatta.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27956\" width=\"200\" height=\"275\"\/><figcaption><strong>Nadia Zanatta<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis honour was not sought, but rather a true compliment to the various endeavors that I enjoy doing within all facets of my life: community, personal, and career,\u201d said Zanatta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have such a beautiful support system that I want to acknowledge: my husband, Nicholas; my parents, Toots and Diana Kovacs; my brother, Bronson Kovacs; my family and friends; as well as my amazing colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her Grade 12 year in 2005-2006, Zanatta was the Catholic Student Trustee for St. Mary\u2019s College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy experience has come full circle, once as a student of the board, and now as an administrator. Since my time serving as a Catholic Student Trustee, I have been working towards this path of leadership, and continue to grow with each new opportunity and experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zanatta wasn\u2019t the only HSCDSB employee nominated for the award this year. Andrea Greco, Vice-Principal of Holy Trinity Catholic Virtual Academy, was also on the list of nominees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1998-1999, she was a Catholic Student Trustee for the former St. Basil Secondary School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hscdsb.on.ca\/hscdsbtest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/05\/Andrea-Greco-368x500.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27955\" width=\"200\" height=\"275\"\/><figcaption><strong>Andrea Greco<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am humbled to be a nominee for the OCSTA Student Trustee Alumni Award. Thank you for your consideration in placing me amongst this fine group of leaders across Ontario. In leadership, having opportunities like being a student trustee, are stepping stones that allow young leaders to grow and learn from a diverse support system,\u201d said Greco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greco says taking on the role of student trustee helped her develop confidence to stand alone, courage to make tough decisions, and compassion to listen to others. She has taken those lessons and applied them to her leadership role within the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of my favourite quotes is, \u201cA leader who knows the way, shows the way and then gets out of the way.\u201d added Greco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are extremely proud of both of these award nominees. We congratulate Nadia on receiving the OCSTA Student Trustee Alumni Award and Andrea on her nomination.
