{"id":8797,"date":"2021-10-18T16:13:44","date_gmt":"2021-10-18T20:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polite-rate.flywheelsites.com\/hscdsbtest\/?post_type=news&#038;p=8797"},"modified":"2021-10-18T16:13:48","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T20:13:48","slug":"generous-donation","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.hscdsb.on.ca\/hscdsbtest\/news\/generous-donation\/","title":{"rendered":"Generous Donation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board recently accepted a donation from the membership of Local 2251 of the United Steelworkers (USW) for the board\u2019s breakfast program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">USW Local 2251 President Mike DaPrat presented a cheque for $6,250 to Director of Education Rose Burton Spohn and Superintendent of Education Christine Durocher, who oversees the board\u2019s breakfast program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are very honoured that USW Local 2251 members continue to be so generous.&nbsp; This donation will help to ensure that students have the opportunity to access nutritious food every morning.&nbsp; We know our breakfast program helps students start the day in a positive frame of mind and optimizes learning at all grade levels,\u201d said Durocher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have had the pleasure for years to accept this donation from the United Steelworkers membership.&nbsp; We are so thankful for their generosity and their concern for our students is a blessing,\u201d said Burton Spohn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. DaPrat says his members are proud of this initiative and he hopes USW Local 2251 can continue to support local school boards for years to come.
