The board sends its prayers to the Barbeau family upon hearing of the passing of former long-time employee Robert (Bob) Barbeau.
Bob began his teaching career at the former Sault Ste. Marie Roman Catholic Separate School Board on September 7, 1971. His distinguished career in Catholic education ended with his retirement on June 30, 2001.
Bob taught elementary at St. Pius X, St. Theresa, St. Ann and St. Thomas. In 1985, he moved on to teach at St. Mary’s College becoming a Vice-Principal at the secondary school in 1988.
Three years later he became the first principal at St. Basil Secondary School when it opened in September of 1991. He wrapped up a ten year run as SBSS principal with his retirement.
