The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board has new leadership when it comes to its Board of Trustees.

At the monthly Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Gary Trembinski was acclaimed to the Chair of the Board position and John Caputo was elected as Vice-Chair.

Trembinski, a Sault Ste. Marie trustee, becomes Chair for the first time in his tenure as a trustee.

“I want to thank everyone for their support. I appreciate the vote of confidence from my peers and I promise to continue to work hard to make the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board the best in Ontario. I have learned much in the role of Vice-Chair from past Chair Sandra Turco and I’m excited for this new challenge,” said Trembinski.

Caputo is excited to return to the Vice-Chair position which he held in 2016.

“I am very excited about the future of this board and I want to make sure all of our Catholic school communities are beneficiaries of its ongoing success. I think our senior leadership team is on the right path and I’m blessed to be on the journey with them,” said Caputo.

“I congratulate Chair Trembinski and Vice-Chair Caputo on their new positions. I genuinely look forward to working closely with them as we continue to strive to ensure our students receive the best Catholic education has to offer,” said Director of Education, Danny Viotto.

The meeting was the first for incoming Trustees Carol Amadio and John Bruno who were elected in the October 24th municipal election.
