Dear Parents / Guardians:
This afternoon, Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s Minister of Education, announced that this year’s March Break will be delayed until the week of April 12 – 16, 2021. Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, and Christine Elliott, Minister of Health, were also present for this announcement. The government’s decision was based on public health advice.
As a result of the government’s announcement, all schools in the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board will remain open and student instruction will continue throughout the week of March 15 – 19, 2021.
We recognize that this announcement might be a source of disappointment, anxiety, and/or frustration to you and your family. We share your concern for the mental health and well-being of our students, employees, and families, who have worked so hard throughout the 2020-21 school year and who eagerly anticipated a well-deserved March holiday. However, we once again request your cooperation and understanding that these announcements are beyond the board’s control.
In closing, we urge all of you to continue to observe all public health measures, particularly those related to travel and social gatherings. It is through everyone’s ongoing commitment to public health and the common good that we will emerge from this pandemic as safely as we possibly can.
Please join me in continuing to pray for everyone’s continued safety and a swift end to this pandemic.
