The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is partnering with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service (SSMPS) on a new Dynamic Patrol initiative.
This new partnership will begin on Monday, March 20, 2023.
The Sault Ste. Marie Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan is a working plan to mitigate social risks that negatively affect the community. It was developed through collective efforts of multi-sector stakeholders.
As part of the plan the HSCDSB and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, are collaborating to find innovative ways to support and benefit the overall social wellbeing in our community.
As part of this partnership, officers assigned to Dynamic Patrol, will be working closely with St. Mary’s College.
Officers will be in the schools periodically to interact with students, engage in some school activities and to encourage a safe learning environment, where each student feels they belong and can participate and learn.
In the Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan, early intervention and prevention programs and services for children are a priority to help them grow into healthy adults.
All partners believe increasing proactive and positive interactions will support the plan to diminish future risks for our young people. Members of the SSMPS are excited to engage in this capacity in local secondary schools to build positive relationships with the youth in our community.
