Remembering Retired Educator Sheila Ucci
The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board continues to keep the family and friends of retired educator Sheila Ucci in our prayers following her passing on April 19, 2026.
Sheila dedicated more than 30 years to Catholic education, serving students with kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping every child succeed. Throughout her career, she was known as a talented and hardworking teacher who saw the good in everyone and would move heaven and earth to educate, advocate for, and motivate every student fortunate enough to be in her classroom.
Having grown up and worked in Elliot Lake, many members of our Board community had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the many ways Sheila lived out her vocation as a caring, compassionate, and deeply committed Catholic educator. Even in retirement, she continued to generously share her gift of teaching by volunteering regularly in our schools, inspiring and supporting students for years beyond her formal career.
Her legacy of faith, service, and Catholic education continues through her children, Vince, Phil, and Christina Ucci, who now serve as teachers in our Elliot Lake school communities. We also extend our heartfelt condolences to her children Kevin and Lisa, her grandchildren, extended family, and all those who knew and loved her. Sheila was also the sister of our retired colleagues Marty Ross and Patti Roberge.
As a Catholic school community, we give thanks to God for Sheila’s life of faithful service and the lasting impact she made on generations of students, colleagues, and families. Her compassion, generosity, and dedication to Catholic education will continue to be remembered throughout our Board community.
May perpetual light shine upon her, and may she rest in the peace of Christ.
