{"id":1377,"date":"2024-01-11T10:27:23","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T15:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polite-rate.flywheelsites.com\/staugustinefrenchimmersion\/?post_type=news&#038;p=1377"},"modified":"2024-01-11T10:29:01","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T15:29:01","slug":"update-regarding-the-september-lead-water-exceedance","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.hscdsb.on.ca\/staugustinefrenchimmersion\/news\/update-regarding-the-september-lead-water-exceedance\/","title":{"rendered":"Update regarding the September 2023 Lead Water Exceedance"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"1377\" class=\"elementor elementor-1377\" data-elementor-post-type=\"news\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-f1a05c3 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"f1a05c3\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8b57c4b\" data-id=\"8b57c4b\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5da2edc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5da2edc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Ontario\u2019s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks requires schools, private schools and child care centres to conduct regular testing for lead in drinking water.<\/p><p>As previously announced in September 2023, a plumbing fixture at St. Augustine French Immersion Catholic School was sampled and subsequently exceeded the current standard of 10 micrograms per litre.<\/p><p><strong>Corrective Actions <\/strong><br \/>\u2022 The fixture was removed from service. <br \/>\u2022 Algoma Public Health and Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks notified. <br \/>\u2022 A water filter certified for lead reduction has been installed. <br \/>\u2022 Resampled the fixture that exceeded the guideline. <br \/>\u2022 Continued daily flushing of plumbing fixtures.<\/p><p><strong>Outcome<\/strong> <br \/>The fixture was re-sampled in December 2023, which resulted in an exceedance for lead on a \u201cstanding\u201d sample only.<\/p><p>The subsequent \u201cflushed\u201d sample was at or below the Ontario drinking water quality standard of 10 micrograms per litre.<\/p><p>As a result, this fixture will be placed back in service, and all fixtures for water consumption will continue to be flushed daily.<\/p><p>This notice services as information only.
