Bienvenue, Biindigen and Welcome to St. Mary’s French Immersion Catholic School!

It is with great pleasure that we welcome all of our families to the 2022-2023 school year. This year we also welcome Mme Greco, as she joins the St. Mary’s French Immersion Catholic School community as the Vice-Principal. As well, Mrs. Grondin and Mr. Bruni who will be teaching English Language Arts to various grades. We are very excited to share this school year with the students, staff and families of this vibrant school.

St. Mary’s French Immersion Catholic School is an inclusive learning environment. We believe that God has called us to address the whole person, and we will provide an education that promotes faith development, extra-curricular activities and academic excellence in both English and French.

We are committed to continuing our journey of reconciliation in being allies to Indigenous people by working and learning together with Batchewana First Nation Garden River First Nation and the Métis First Nation.

The relationship between home and school has a positive impact on a child’s success. Evening routines with homework, supporting learning at home, and joining the Catholic School Council are excellent ways to stay  connected and build community.

Classroom Assignments

A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placements for this school year. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level.  To view our staff list click here.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

We will continue to follow the SMFI Traffic Safety Program. However, on the first day of school there may be many students and parents who are anxious about the start of a new school year. All students will enter the school and go directly to their respective classes. There will be staff on duty to direct students who are unsure of where to go. Parents who are dropping their child(ren) off at the school are encouraged to use the drop off area located on Gibbs Street or park in the parking lot and
then walk their child to the main entrance of the school (please be cautious of the bus bay). Students arriving on buses will unload at the main entrance and enter the school to proceed directly to class.

School Schedule

School begins at 9:30 a.m. Students are to arrive at school between 9:15 and 9:30, please note that there is no adult supervision until that time. We no longer need to cohort students so all children will be outside during our recess times.

● Nutrition Break 1 – 11:10 – 11:50
● Nutrition Break 2 – 1:30 – 2:10
● Dismissal – 3:50

The new school year offers us an opportunity to reflect upon and refine our personal, professional and spiritual growth. We continue to approach each year with the belief that all of our students are capable of learning, growing, and achieving.

We look forward to the academic year ahead of us!
