Connect On

Our school hours are 8:55 am to 3:10 pm.  There is no supervision until 8:40 am.  Students who arrive before 8:40 am are not supervised until 8:40 am

Lunch Hour is 11:40 – 12:25.  Grade 7 and Grade 8 will be allowed to go out for lunch with signed parental permission.  If students are late 3 times, the privilege of going out for lunch will be taken away.

Our Student & Family Counsellor Michelle Walsh is at our school Mondays and Fridays each week. She is available to assist students with personal supportive counselling, stress management, emotion regulation, managing anxious symptoms, low mood, navigating difficult or stressful situations, and many other topics. Please reach out to the office or your student’s teacher if you would like a referral to see Michelle. Please note that even if your student was connected to Michelle in past years, a new referral is needed.

CALLING ALL PARENTS

St. Mary’s is looking for parents to participate on our Catholic School Council!  There are 3-4 meetings during the school year and you can attend in person or virtually via google meet!  Come see what you can do to help enhance your child’s(ren’s) experiences at school! Meeting will be held on October 12 @ 6:00 pm. In addition to CSC, a Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) must be established each year.  The purpose of PIC is to support, encourage and enhance parent engagement at the board level to improve student achievement and well-being.

SCHOOL AND CLASS MASSES

We will continue to celebrate mass with Father Clarence each Friday at 10:00 am.  Once a month we will celebrate as a whole school community and every other Friday we will celebrate with select classes.

These dates can be found on the attached October calendar.  Sunday Mass is at St. James the Greater Parish at 9:30 am.

MATH CORNER – PARENT CONNECTION!

We all use mathematics daily in what we do.  Involve your child in using numbers to solve problems and make those everyday decisions with you. For example:

“Do we have enough plates and utensils for all the guests coming for the birthday party?”

“We are doubling this recipe. How much of all the ingredients will we need?”

“We are fertilizing the lawn. The fertilizer bag covers three square meters. How many will we need?”

“This store is selling the game you want for 20% off of $27.00. That store is selling the same game for $19.99. Where should we shop?”
