POSITION: Special Assignment Teacher –  Student Support Program (SSP)

EFFECTIVE DATE: September 2026

ANNUALIZED SALARY: $52,971 – $119,945

Reporting to the Principal, the Student Support Program (SSP) Special Assignment Teacher will provide educational programming to students enrolled in the Care and Treatment Education Program (CTEP) class (i.e., SSP) at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School, Sault Ste. Marie. Students in the CTEP class may be working towards meeting Ontario curriculum expectations and/or alternative programming goals. The teacher will work in collaboration with the Mental Health Leader, CTEP partner, and the school board’s Special Education and Mental Health Department’s multidisciplinary teams to design and implement educational programs that recognize the primacy of students’ care and/or treatment needs. The Special Assignment Teacher will also be required to lead case conferences, develop the student education map, arrange student transitions, facilitate integration opportunities for students in the program and liaise with CTEP partners and applicable school board staff.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Primary/Junior Division
• Special Education, Part 1 
• Religious Education, Part 1

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Intermediate Division
• Special Education Specialist
• Skill in differentiated instruction would be an asset
• Prior experience supporting students with special education needs
