The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is committed to improving its Indigenous education programs, services and resources, in accordance with the Ontario First Nation, Metis and Inuit Education Policy and Framework.
Our board wants to ensure that the unique strengths are celebrated and the needs of all students are met, including students with First Nations, Metis and Inuit ancestry. We are working with local Indigenous community partners to develop programs and offer services to improve student achievement, increase graduation rates and improve overall student well-being.
As we continue our work towards Truth and Reconciliation, we strive to provide every student with meaningful opportunities to learn about Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives.
The schools and buildings of the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board are located on the traditional lands of Indigenous peoples who have been its stewards for thousands of years.
As people who now reside in the 1850 Robinson-Huron Treaty territory, the 1850 Robinson-Superior Treaty territory and Treaty 9 territory, we give thanks to our ancestors from the seven generations before us who took care of the land, water and air for us to enjoy the bounty of the territory of which the Creator has graciously provided without hesitation.
May we journey together in a good way.
While educating all of our students about Indigenous culture and history is infused in the curriculum of all of our school communities a select number of schools offer Native as a Second Language (NSL) programs.
