POSITION: After School Program for Students with Autism – Support Staff (Grades K-8)

LOCATION: St. Basil Catholic Elementary School, 250 St. Georges Avenue E, Sault Ste. Marie         

SCHEDULE: April to June, 2026 (8 hours/week on Tuesday & Thursday – 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)         

RATE OF PAY: $36.43/hour

DUTIES:

  • Supervise students with special needs in the After School Program (including classroom, gym and outdoor areas)
  • Provide assistance with specialized assistive technology and physical education program (training provided)
  • Deliver individualized skill-building programming in 1:1 and group settings
  • Engage with students for the development of social and play skills
  • Prepare and clean up daily materials
  • Collect data on student progress
  • Assist in behaviour management programs
  • May be required to assist in toileting and/or feeding programs
  • Communicate with families
  • Report to the Program Facilitator
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One of Child and Youth Care Diploma, Developmental Service Worker Diploma, Early Childhood Educator Diploma, Personal Support Worker Diploma, Teacher’s Aide Certificate or relevant experience working with students with special needs
  • Experience working with children and youth with special needs, specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis is considered an asset
  • Behaviour Management Systems training (or willingness to be trained)
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check
