Human Resources Assistant
LOCATION: Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre, Sault Ste. Marie, ON
ANNUALIZED SALARY: $65,750 – $71,925 annual rate, prorated over term of contract
EFFECTIVE DATE: As soon as possible
TERM: Up to six months, with possibility of extension
Under the direction of the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant will:
- Support of HSCDSB’s internal and external recruitment, selection and on-boarding processes for both unionized and non-union employees by:
- Receiving/reviewing applications for all positions and following internal processes per applicable Collective Agreements or policy to support the process of filling those positions through coordination of interviews, liaising between applicants and key decision-makers, and acting as a key support/contact throughout this process
- Completing reference checks and ensuring that all candidates have submitted acceptable police record checks, per the requirement for all board employees under the Education Act
- Oversight of new hire documentation via DocuSign and assistance in the development of new/revised on-boarding initiatives
- Support of other HR functions as needed, including:
- Database creation and/or maintenance, reporting and process mapping to support various HR functions, policies and procedures
- Research related to policy development, CA language and case law
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar
The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of:
- Knowledge of key Human Resources functions and an expressed interest in gaining practical experience to compliment formal HR/business education
- Confident communication and superior interpersonal skills (both virtually and in person, verbal and written)
- A positive and approachable attitude, excellent customer service skills, and ability to problem solve
- Ability to respect and maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive matters and/or information
- Ability to work effectively both independently as well as a part of a team
- Sound knowledge and comfort working in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
- Superior planning and organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and work under time-sensitive conditions/timeline
