POSITION:  Teacher Diagnostician

LOCATION:  Special Education Department, Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre, SSM, ON

EFFECTIVE DATE:  To be determined – will depend on successful teacher’s current position being filled.   

Please note: This position is for the 2023-2024 school year. There is a possibility of renewal, but should it not be available for September 2024, the successful teacher will begin the staffing process from the position they vacated.

DUTIES:

  • Complete Educational Assessments of students (formal and informal) and write relevant information about a student’s learning profile
  • Provide assessment feedbacks to school staff and parents
  • Work in collaboration with Speech Language Pathologist, Psychologist and Special Education Coordinator
  • Make recommendations to support programming at the school level
  • Provide support and consultation for programs and services including accommodations and modifications, and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Work collaboratively with the Catholic Professional Learning Community and community partners
  • Collect Empower Data to support Literacy Intervention
  • Coordinating CCAT timeline, materials and correspondence
  • Lead Enrichment Program preparations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualifications in three divisions
  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 1
  • Special Education, Specialist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Religious Education in Catholic School, Specialist
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a regular classroom teacher
  • Strong knowledge of Individual Education Plans (IEP’s)
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Experience with administration of various assessment tools
  • Experience with assistive technology
  • Experience in a special education role
