Transportation Officer
The Algoma District School Board and Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Transportation Officer with the Algoma & Huron-Superior Transportation Consortium.
Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, this position assists in the planning and administering of student transportation services in accordance with consortium policies and provides support to all stakeholders including school staff, parents and school transportation providers. The Transportation Officer assists with providing direction to school transportation carriers and assists with financial record keeping including budgets.
Summary
- Monitors and reviews existing transportation routes, seeking continuous improvement opportunities for bus transportation.
- Troubleshoots and resolves transportation issues for students and families.
- Utilizes routing software to assist with transportation route planning to develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective school bus routes.
- Interprets mapping detail including distance verification, street integration and landmark identification, providing information to the Supervisor of Transportation to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Responds to inquiries from the public, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
- Communicates with all stakeholders of the Transportation Consortium including school administrators, school transportation providers and the public.
- Gathers financial information, analyzes data, and prepares financial reports including budgets and expenditure documentation.
- Assists with collecting data and preparing reporting documentation for submission to the Ministry of Education.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or a related field.
- An educational background in Geographic Information Systems will be considered an asset.
- Two years of experience working in a business environment.
- Experience working in a transportation or logistics environment will be considered an asset.
- Experience working with routing functions, mapping functions and/or large database software will be considered an asset.
- Certification and/or training in process mapping, GIS mapping and mapping software will be considered an asset.

Monday to Friday – 35 hours per week
