Please find attached the (Elementary and Secondary) Draft Calendars, being proposed for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is in the consultation process for the 2025-2026 school year calendar. This is a complex process because of our large geographic territory and the need to collaborate with the Algoma District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario and Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario in producing the calendar. We welcome your attention to the attached draft calendars and your input on the question at the end of this memo. Once this input has been received, the four boards will finalize a calendar.

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

• The school year must consist of 194 school days, of which no more than seven can be professional activity days. 

2. HOLIDAYS

• The Ministry of Education has set the Christmas Break from Monday, December 22, 2025 to Friday, January 2, 2026 with classes resuming on Monday, January 5, 2026. As part of the consultation process with the other three coterminous Boards, Christmas Break will remain as set out by the Ministry of Education.

• March Break has been set by the Ministry of Education for the week of March 16 to 20, 2026. School resumes Monday, March 23, 2026.

3. PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY DAYS

•  PA Day #1: Tuesday, September 2, 2025 – Opening PA day 
• PA Day #2: To be determined (see calendar) (Wednesday, September 3 or Friday, March 6, 2025)
• PA Day #3: Friday, September 26, 2025 – Faith Day
• PA Day #4: Friday, November 7, 2025 – Provincial Priorities
• PA Day #5: Friday, January 30, 2026 – Assessment
• PA Day #6: Friday, April 17, 2026 – Provincial Priorities
• PA Day #7: Friday, June 5, 2026 – Assessment
