The board sends its condolences and prayers to the family of Michèle Taillefer who has passed into God’s loving arms on Monday.

Michèle was an amazing teacher for nearly six decades as she concluded her 57 years in the classroom on March 7, 2024 as an occasional teacher at St. Mary’s French Immersion in Sault Ste. Marie.

Michèle began her career with the former Sault Ste. Marie Roman Catholic Separate School Board in 1968 at St. Hubert Catholic School.  She also taught at St. Pius X, St. Thomas, St. Mark and St. Bernadette before retiring in 2000.  Her love of the classroom saw Michèle return as an occasional teacher until earlier this year.

“Michèle was not only a dedicated educator but also a cherished member of many of our schools giving so much of her time to our French Immersion programming.  Her passion for teaching and commitment to our students has left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.  She will be missed by students and colleagues,” said St. Mary’s French Immersion Principal, Rachel Biedermann.
