On Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13, St. Mary’s College hosted the Elementary Basketball Championships.

In the boys’ final, a thrilling match between Our Lady of Lourdes (SSM) and Holy Family unfolded. The Lions emerged victorious, showcasing their prowess with a remarkable 33 points, while the Flames put up a strong fight and secured silver with 23 points. With a hard-fought battle, St. Paul claimed the bronze by defeating Holy Cross. 

The Lions’ leading scorers include Brandon Blais, who scored 13 points, and Martino Coccimiglio, who scored 9 points. The Flames’ leading scorers were Paxton Brodie, who scored 13 points, and Nick Patience, who scored 6 points.

On the girls’ side, St. Mary’s French Immersion matched up against St. Paul. The Sharks won with 18 points, while the Patriots won silver with 10 points. Our Lady of Fatima (Elliot Lake) defeated St. Basil (SSM) in the bronze game. 

In the girls’ final, the players displayed their skills and determination. Blake Magli led all Sharks scorers with 6 points, closely followed by Audrina Blonda with 5 points. Sophie King led the Patriots with 5 points.

For the Three-Point Contest, Alex Farrel from Holy Family placed first on the boys’ side with 9 Threes, and Tenley Cameron from Our Lady of Fatima (Elliot Lake) placed first on the girls’ side with 6 Threes.
