(Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) – Due to the significant increase in student enrolment at St. Basil Catholic School, three HSCDSB schools (St. Basil Catholic School, St. Mary’s French Immersion, and Holy Cross Catholic School) will adjust their transportation boundaries for the 2024-2025 school year.  The HSCDSB has implemented these changes in consultation with the Algoma & Huron-Superior Transportation Services.

The following areas will be removed from the St. Basil Catholic School boundary and will be rezoned for Holy Cross or St. Mary’s French Immersion for the upcoming school year.

– Eastside of Lake St, Southside of McNabb St, MacDonald Ave, Black Rd.

– Westside of Bruce St to East St.

“The recent adjustments made to St. Basil Catholic School, St. Mary’s French Immersion, and Holy Cross Catholic School are a positive sign in response to increasing enrolment.  Although we have put other strategies in motion, changing the school boundaries will further assist in ensuring that our students continue to have vibrant learning spaces,” said Danny Viotto, Director of Education.

“Decisions like this are very important and will help us better serve our school communities.  Next school year, we fully anticipate and welcome the continued growth in our enrollment,” said Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Gary Trembinski.
