The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) is proud to recognize Local Government Week, which highlights the important role of locally elected leaders in communities across Ontario.

At HSCDSB, our Board of Trustees plays a key role in shaping the direction of Catholic education, ensuring students experience an education rooted in faith, academic excellence, and community. As elected representatives of the Catholic community, Trustees are entrusted with the good governance of the Board and serve as stewards, advocates, politicians, and servant leaders.

“As Catholic Trustees, we are called to serve with faith, compassion, and integrity,” said Sandra Turco, Chair of the Board. “It’s a privilege to represent our Catholic community and to help guide the work that ensures our students receive a Christ-centred education. Local Government Week is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of this work and to celebrate those who dedicate themselves to it.”

Fil Lettieri, Director of Education, added, “We are grateful for the partnership and guidance of our Trustees. Their service helps ensure that our schools remain places where students grow in knowledge and faith, supported by a strong and caring Catholic community. Their work makes a difference in the lives of our students.”

Through their governance and advocacy, Catholic Trustees help strengthen the connection between schools, families, parishes, and the broader community. During Local Government Week, HSCDSB encourages everyone to take time to learn more about the role Trustees play in supporting Catholic education across Ontario.
