Lourdes Honoured
The Champion of Inclusion Award was awarded to Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion Catholic School in Elliot Lake at the recent AGM for Community Living Algoma.
The annual contest recognizes how inclusion is happening in schools in the District of Algoma.
The school, in what is believe to be the first time evern, has received two back-to-back awards in the ‘Together We’re Better’ contest in the last two years proof of their commitment to promoting and fulfilling the objective of an inclusive school environment, culture and climate.
“Last year, Our Lady of Lourdes School’s award winner was viewed as an ambassador of inclusion and this year the school has a classroom of Grade 7/8 students who are, collectively, the young leaders of an inclusive community. These outstanding examples show our Lady of Lourdes principal, vice principal and staff are committed to promoting and fulfilling the objective of an inclusive school environment, culture and climate,” said the CLA’s Sergio Iacoe.
