Last Friday, students from across the region showcased their curiosity, creativity, and passion for discovery at the 37th Annual Rotary Algoma STEM Fair.

The event welcomed students in Grades 7 through 12 and provided an exciting opportunity to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a hands-on and meaningful way. Through their projects, students demonstrated not only their knowledge, but also their initiative, resourcefulness, and innovative thinking.

The Rotary Algoma STEM Fair continues to be an important platform for youth to discover their interests, express their creativity, and be recognized for their hard work and dedication. 

Events like this highlight the incredible potential of our students—truly the scientists of tomorrow. Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding efforts and for making this year’s fair such a success:

Some of the highlights include:

  • 14 of the 22 projects submitted by HSCDSB received awards.
  • Vincent Mannarino, project titled Development of a Machine Learning System for Automated Fall Detection, received First Place – Best of Fair among other awards.
  • Perzan Umrigar, project titled Ultrasonic Sight, received Third Place – Senior Category
  • Andres Rausseo Baron and Joseph Cha, project titled The Wrist Phone, received Third Place – Intermediate Category.
  • Six projects from the TAS1O Continuing Education course received awards
