POSITION: Special Assignment Teacher – FSL & MLL (LTO)

LOCATION: Curriculum Department, Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

EFFECTIVE DATE: September 1, 2026

END DATE: June 30, 2027 (Anticipated)

ANNUALIZED SALARY: $52,971 – $119,945

The Board is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, creative, organized and professional Catholic educator/leader who is able to work effectively with the staffs, students, parents, and communities in the board’s jurisdiction. The FSL and MLL Special Assignment Teacher is responsible for:

  • System leadership and support in deepening students’ and teachers’ understanding of, appreciation of, and fluency in both of Canada’s official languages;
  • Providing support to administrators and staff to develop a deep understanding of the CEFR and DELF;
  • Supporting the implementation of the board’s FSL Plan and the MLL Guide for Elementary Schools;
  • Collaborating with community partners to support the transitions and acculturation of newcomer families to our school communities;
  • Organization of in-service activities and meetings related to FSL and MLL;
  • Participation in meetings and activities of various curriculum-related groups (includes travel);
  • Collaboration on various curriculum initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Qualifications in any three divisions (i.e., Primary, Junior, Intermediate or Senior)
  • French as a Second Language, Part 1
  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 1
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualifications in all four divisions
  • French as a Second Language, Specialist
  • Special Education, Part 1
  • Teaching English Language Learners, Part 1
