Reporting to the Superintendent of Business and working within a strong team environment, the Budgeting and Cost Analyst assists the Superintendent of Business by providing expertise in budgeting, purchasing, and accounting services to the board. In this confidential non-union position, the Budgeting and Cost Analyst performs as an integral member of a team and contributes to excellence in Catholic education.

 

LOCATION: 
Business Department,  Mount St. Joseph Catholic Education Centre (90 Ontario Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, ON)

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Responsible for preparing the Annual and Revised Budget and implementing budget controls through continuous monitoring and reporting of performance against plans.
  • Responsible for the development of the Capital Budget with support from the Plant Department.
  • Responsible for the strategic allocation of Priorities and Partnership Funding.
  • Responsible for the reporting and recording of Ministry grants through the Grants for Students needs and Transfer Payment Agreements.
  • Supports completion of the annual Financial Statements, including ensuring the external auditor’s requests are met.
  • Provides budgeting and invoicing support to the school board system (ex. Principals, Curriculum and Special Education Departments).
  • Supports the competitive purchasing process through effective sourcing, tendering, and adherence to the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive.
  • Provides cross functional support with the Supervisor of Accounting as needed.
  • Assist the Superintendent of Business in the establishment of efficient and effective accounting systems and internal controls.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional accounting designation.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience in the field of accounting.
  • Advanced computer efficiency in Excel and accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting processes and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB), preferably in a school board setting.
  • Discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently, collaboratively and with changing priorities
  • Demonstrated initiative.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships.

SALARY RANGE: $70,093 – $77,519
