POSITION: Special Assignment Teacher – Specialized Teaching and Resource (STAR) Intermediate Program

LOCATION: St. Mary’s College, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

EFFECTIVE DATE: September 2025

ANNUALIZED SALARY: $52,971 – $119,945

Reporting to the Principal, the Specialized Teaching and Resource (STAR) classroom teacher will provide educational programming to support autistic students in their development of multi-modal communication, self-regulation, and social skills. Students in this Special Education system-level class may be working towards meeting Ontario curriculum expectations and/or alternative programming goals. The STAR classroom teacher will work in collaboration with the Special Education Department’s multi-disciplinary team in implementing the IEP with related accommodations and modifications. The STAR classroom teacher will also be required to lead case conferences, hold IPRC meetings, arrange student transitions, facilitate integration opportunities for students in the program and liaise with the Special Education Department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intermediate Division
  • Special Education, Part 1 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Special Education Specialist
  • Religious Education, Part 1
  • Skill in differentiated instruction would be an asset
  • Prior experience supporting students with special education needs, particularly those with ASD
