POSITION: Summer Learning Program Tutors

For Current Kindergarten Year 2 to Grade 2 Students & Grade 5 Math

*In addition to general classroom teachers, specific positions are available for Indigenous Tutors, Math Tutors and Multilingual Language Learner Tutors.

LOCATION: Holy Cross Catholic School, Sault Ste. Marie (possible virtual as well)

SCHEDULE: July 7 to July 25, 2025 (approximately 60 hours of program support) 

RATE OF PAY: $22.00/hour

The successful applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of a summer literacy and numeracy program and facilitate healthy living activities. The tutors will participate in orientation/planning sessions, as well as professional development opportunities, as determined by the team.

 

General Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a College or University program in an education or child-related field;
  • Ability to support small groups and individual students in literacy, numeracy and active living opportunities, under the direction of a teacher;
  • Ability to provide support in a virtual environment e.g., Google Classroom, Hangouts, and/or Meet.

 

Additional Indigenous Tutor Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and ability to incorporate Indigenous culture, language and history in daily sessions.
  • Promote Indigenous student and parent/guardian involvement and engagement in the Summer Learning Program.

 

Additional Multilingual Learner Tutor Requirements:

  • Familiarity with English as a Second Language strategies to support Multilingual Learners. 
  • Ability to be flexible to the individual needs of Multilingual Learners (Acculturation, Social, Emotional).
  • Work collaboratively with the Special Assignment Teacher for Newcomers.
